Wisdom teeth are the third molars located at the back of the mouth that typically erupt between the ages of 16 and 25. Sometimes, wisdom teeth can cause problems such as:

1.Insufficient space: The eruption of wisdom teeth is often restricted by the jawbone's space. If there is insufficient space, wisdom teeth may not be able to erupt properly, resulting in impaction. Impacted wisdom teeth not only cannot perform their normal function but also can cause pericoronitis or damage the teeth in front of them if they grow too far forward. Therefore, wisdom teeth often need to be removed.

2.Difficulty in cleaning: Due to their position at the back of the mouth and human evolution, wisdom teeth rarely have any chewing function. Additionally, they are difficult to clean thoroughly due to their position, leading to easy accumulation of food debris and bacteria, which can cause pericoronitis and tooth decay in front teeth.

3.Genetic factors: If there is a history of difficulty erupting or other problems with wisdom teeth in the family, it is often recommended to remove the wisdom teeth early to avoid potential issues.

Therefore, in order to prevent these problems, it may be necessary to remove wisdom teeth.
